Description

Emerging technologies such as quantum computers, microfluidic biochips, etc. promise substantial speedups or new application areas compared to conventional computer technologies. Accordingly, researchers and engineers from both, academia and industry, are heavily committed to build practically relevant devices as well as to design corresponding applications for them. Here, design automation can significantly help, e.g., by providing top-notch solutions for simulation, synthesis, technology mapping, verification, and more. This talk provides an overview of selected emerging technologies, namely quantum computing and microfluidic biochips as well as the current design of corresponding applications. Afterwards, it will showcase selected examples of the potential provided by design automation in these domains.
