Positivity of P-Recursive Sequences

Description

A P-recursive sequence is a sequence of real numbers that satisfies a linear recurrence with polynomial coefficients. We present several tricks for showing, given initial values and the recurrence coefficients, that such a sequence is positive. The basic idea is to find a left multiple of the recurrence operator with an appropriate shape.
