Description

Membrane separation techniques are considered as suitable alternative options for many different unit operations. Due to huge enhancements on membrane materials in the last three decades, especially considering chemical stability and a narrow pore size distribution, new fields of applications were investigated. For respective industrial application membranes are needed, that are stable over a pH range from 1 up to 14. To evaluate the performance of a commercial and alkaline stable membrane several experiments were carried out with different organic substances at high pH values. Many performance data a published for alkaline conditions up to about pH 12 but there is a lack of knowledge at higher pH values.
