Properties of carrier materials of catalysts are supposed to be crucial when designing industrial catalysis processes. In petrochemistry as well as in fundamental organic chemistry, the use of supported ionic liquid phases (SILP) became an important technology to transform gaseous or highly volatile compounds. Up to now, scientific literature predominantly describes silica and alumosilicon compounds as appropriate supports. Furthermore, polystyrene derivatives have been applied for several reaction classes. Polystyrenes are covalently bonded to ionic structure elements simulating commercial ionic liquids. Developing new polymeric carrier materials is supposed to reduce production costs of SILP and enhance the selectivity of ionic liquid fixation. In this work, a series of ionic liquid imprinted porous cross-linked monodispersal polymer beads were prepared by free suspension polymerisation.
