Description
Continuous advances in silicon-based technologies have reduced the layer stack dimensions of a monolithic microwave and Millimeter-wave integrated circuit (MMIC) to several hundred nanometers. Nevertheless the dimensions of a typical antenna in package (AiP) are in the range of a few millimeters. This significant size difference can complicate the simulation of a millimeter-wave package in which an MMIC and an AiP are integrated. In this work a 77-GHz automotive radar package including an MMIC and an AiP are simulated using CST MWS Time Domain Solver. The simulated beam patterns were verified against the experiment and the challenging issues of such a simulation are discussed.
