Description

This contribution is concerned with the derivation of an analytical mathematical model of a temper rolling plant with the objective of covering the major physical effects and interconnections in view of a control design task. Since Hitchcock's assumption of an equivalent roll radius studying the rollgap is no longer appropriate in the temper rolling scenario, a non-circular arc rollgap model considering the roll indentation is adopted from recent literature. The rollgap equations, together with the differential equations modelling the behaviour of the mill stand, the elastic strip elemnts and the unwinder and rewinder form a nonlinear multi-input multi-output dynamical model of the plant.
