Low temperature mechanochemical synthesis of A3-corroles and A4-porphyrins

Activity: Talk or presentationPoster presentationscience-to-science

Description

We present the first synthesis of tetrapyrrolic compounds with a triisopropylsilylethynyl group at the meso positions, without the use of solvent in the first step of the synthesis, which is the condensation. The achieved reaction yields are 39% for corroles and 66% for porphyrins, making their application in other fields of chemistry more accessible. These compounds can stabilize metal ions such as Mn, Co, Fe, or Cu, and after deprotection of the TIPS-group, they react with each other, forming an insoluble polymer network. A potential application of such electrically conductive polymers could be their use as catalysts in electrochemistry for the activation of small molecules such as water, CO2, or N2.
