Legal strategies and struggles after the EU-CSDDD: challenges, possibilities, limitations (rapporteur)

Activity: Talk or presentation › Other talk or presentation › science-to-science

Description

When political conflicts in the context of struggles over the regulation of supply
chains are translated into law, they undermine a process of change: they are accompanied by a depoliticization of the social context and push questions of workplace organizing into the background. At the same time, the legal struggles also give rise to dynamic moments in which the human rights of those affected are sometimes gaining importance and the state and corporate opponents come under greater pressure to justify themselves. With the new EU directive CSDDD, there
is now an instrument that harmonizes the regulation of supply chains within the EU. In this context, legal struggles over the CSDDD in European courts are likely to increase. The working group takes this political development as an opportunity to shed light on the specific possibilities of legal struggles within the framework of the CSDDD – and to ask how the directive could affect operational restructuring in the context of digitalization.
