Description

Prof. Manuel Wimmer (JKU Linz, Austria) will headline the ECSS 2025 Keynote Session on Tuesday, 28 October, with a talk on Integrating Quantum Technologies into European Informatics Departments. As quantum computing emerges as a transformative force, integrating it into Informatics education and research is essential to equip students for future demands and strengthen Europe’s leadership in advanced technologies. Prof. Wimmer brings deep expertise in model-driven engineering, formal methods, and automated software engineering tools - foundational elements for quantum software development. His active role in European research projects and academic leadership makes him an ideal voice to address both the technical and strategic dimensions of this fast-growing field. The session, chaired by IE President Jean-Marc Jézéquel from IRISA / University of Rennes, will also mark IRISA’s 50th anniversary, honouring its legacy of multidisciplinary innovation in informatics.
