Description

Additive manufacturing (AM) has become more and more important over the last years. As more applications for AM are found, there is a rising need for measured material properties to advance product development and engineering. Especially impact properties are seldom to be found. For this work, four commercially available filaments of Polylactic acid (PLA), Polycarbonate (PC), Polypropylene (PP) and Polyamide 12 (PA12) have been selected and test specimens have been 3D-printed using an extrusion based 3Dprinter with three different infill orientations (0°, 45° and z). Based on instrumented charpy tests, the force-displacement curves and the impact strength of the materials have been analyzed regarding their infill orientation. Additionally the influence of notches has been analyzed for PLA.
