Description

Almost every European country arranges for evaluation of their schools and teachers in order to improve the quality of education. Due to economic globalisation the quest for quality has become even more focused in the recent decade. As a consequence, many education systems have attempted to modernise their governance by establishing some sort of “evidence-based governance regime”. The aim of this project is to compare the effects and unintended consequences of school inspection in various European countries (the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Austria, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Sweden).
