Description

This contribution is concerned with the hydraulic gap control (HGC) of a reversing hot strip mill. The controller is based on the Input-Output-Linearization for a reduced model that takes into account the physical nature of the plant. The presented approach is based on analytical models: a lumped parameter model for the mill stand, a model for a singel acting hydraulic actuator and an algebraic model for the rolling process. The controller being presented is not restricted to rolling mills but may be used in any type of hydraulic piston actuators.
