How to establish Collaborative Open Foresight Processes - Get it started

In open foresight projects companies jointly look into the future and share their expectations and knowledge concerning future developments. However, not every external collaboration adds value to the participating companies. Various authors claim that, especially the beginning of a collaboration is a cornerstone for its further success. Therefore, the objective of this study is to identify key activities and key factors in the start-up phase of a collaborative open foresight process. The results indicate that, above all, three activities and factors are of high relevance: (1) Intensive team building in the start-up phase of the interorganizational collaboration. (2) Merging the different goals and context factors of the participating companies. (3) The role of the project initiators and intermediaries.
