Flow Mode based Checkup and Screening of hidden Arterial Defects

The LIT SeedplusMED Project "BLOODMODE" has delivered first results on the typical appearance of filow rate mode shapes in the human arterial system. Theoretical mode shapes are derived from dynamic circulation models, which shall be explored by the LIFT-C application "DIGICIRCULATION" to establish a solid reference for frequency dependent flow modes in the arteries of healthy humans. Practical diagnostics shall be enabled by the SeedplusMED PTM application "ARTERYCHECK". Processing ultrasonic measurements of blood flow rate, the feasibility of modal testing with base excitation shall be investigated on substructures such as a single arm or leg, and the usable range of natural frequencies shall be determined. Locating hidden aneurysms shall frequency response functions, and by examination of flow rate spectra. For low-level screening, the number of be attempted by full modal testing of the arterial system with base excitation from the heart, by consideration of measurement points shall be reduced to a minimum.
