Description

The fatigue behaviour of CF-SMC has been investigated. Component end-of-life corresponds well with the specimen obtained material S-N curve. The observed stiffness degeneration over the mid-lifetime regime described by an exponential law, where the exponent is proportional to the load amplitude. These results give confidence that material parameters can be translated to structural parts. However, to predict the component fatigue behaviour, the inhomogeneous stress distribution over the stressed cross-section and load re-distribution needs to be considered.
