Description
This contribution deals with an energy based controller design for hydraulic actuators. Equilibrium thermodynamics is used in order to establish the energy relations for physical systems with mass flow across their boundaries. A double acting hydraulic ram is used as an application example. Further, an energy based controller is derived for this multi-input-multi-output system. Finally, inudstrial measurements from a steel rolling mill which demonstrate the implemented control law will be presented.
