Description

The electrocardiogram (ECG) follows a rather characteristic shape, which has lead to the development of several mathematical models for describing single waves or the whole ECG beat. Various noise sources as well as many subject-specific individual features, however, still demand improvements of these methodologies. In this work, we suggest a model based on Hermite and sigmoid functions combined with piecewise polynomial interpolation for an exact segmentation and low-dimensional representation of the single ECG beat segments. This allows a more accurate tracking of wave shape changes over time, which might be of great medical interest.
