Description

Physical fluid parameters like viscosity, mass density and sound velocity can be determined utilizing ultrasonic sensors. In this article, we introduce the concept for a recently devised transmission based sensor utilizing pressure waves to determine the longitudinal viscosity of the fluid in the sample chamber. We present the basic sensor setup an according 1D-model for the whole setup and compare simulation results with measurement results obtained with a first prototype device.
