A density sensor for real-time monitoring of polymerization processes based on a quartz crystal resonator

Activity: Talk or presentationPoster presentationunknown

Description

Maintaining constant gas composition in a gas phase polymerization is crucial for a uniform polymerization process and the development of new polymers. Due to the typical conditions in a polymerization chamber ( T ≈ 340K, p ≈ 2.5*106 Pa ), standard procedures such as mass spectrometry or gas chromatography cannot be applied to directly monitor the gas composition inside a reaction chamber in real-time. We are currently developing a density sensor for real-time measurements inside a reaction chamber (Fig. 1), which will be part of a sensor system for monitoring the gas composition during a polymerization process.
