Abstract

Computer games are one of the most challenging applications concerning accessibility and usability for people with disabilities. There are a few games available, which are accessible for a special group of people with special needs, e.g. games for blind people. The next steps in game accessibility will be to design games for all and to bring games accessibility to the mainstream. One approach are user profiles. In these profiles, possible input and output devices are defined and game adaptations are configured. With user profiles, games can be adapted to be playable for all types of (dis)abilities. Furthermore, they can help game developers to design and develop accessible games easier and showing them aspects which have to be considered.
