Abstract
In this paper a CFD study of a single-spout pseudo-2D bed is presented. The effect of two different approaches for the wall boundary conditions for the particulate phase are investigated and compared. It is shown, that the boundary conditions of Johnson and Jackson (1987) are not applicable to a fluidized bed characterized by different collisional regimes (i.e. collisions with and without sliding). In contrast, utilizing boundary conditions accounting for both types of collisions improves the accordance of the numerical model to the measurements significantly in the region of the spout.
