Beschreibung

In future, microneedle devices will be promising candidates for painless transdermal drug delivery and sensor applications in the fields of electrocardiography, electroencephalography or sports monitoring. It is expected that these devices may be based on polymer materials but up to now there is no economic process for the mass production of such microneedle devices. Thus the project MicroNeedle aims for a cost-efficient fabrication of microneedles for drug delivery and ECG sensor applications using injection molding. The well balanced consortium will develop processes for mastering and industrial injection molding to create diversified biomimetic structured and surface modified microneedles for sensor applications and drug delivery. Biomechanical and dermatological tests and the evalution of medical device requirements complete the project and will assist to achieve the objective of the MicroNeedle project.
