A Digital Euro: A Legal Analysis of Europe's Emerging Digital Currency

The proposed legal research project will address issues concerning the potential introduction of the digital euro (i.e. Europe's digital central bank currency) against the background of the EU legal order. The project examines forthcoming EU measures (e.g. measures of the ECB, the Commission Proposal for a Regulation on the establishment of the digital euro) with regard to their compatibility with EU law. Apart from competence issues, the project will assess the implications of these measures for other fields of EU law.
