Beschreibung

Efficient light-harvesting and coupling of excited state reactivity to multielectron redox catalysis are important limiting constraints for the photochemical conversion and storage of solar energy. Nature uses tetrapyrrole-based sensitizers and metal sites based on abundant raw materials as key-intermediates in this process. As a part of our ongoing efforts to further develop the field of bioinorganic and bio-inspired photocatalysis for artificial photosynthesis and functional enzyme mimetics, we designed and explored several novel types of corrole, porphyrin and 1,2-diimine metal complexes with group 11, 14 and 15 central metals such as copper, gold, tin, lead or bismuth.
