Food Production Campaigns in the Second World War: Great Britain and German-Annexed Austria

The author compares the food production campaigns in Great Britain and German-annexed Austria in the Second World War. Despite many differences, the comparison also reveals several similarities at both technical (e.g. application of modern farm technology) and institutional levels (e.g. authoritarian state control). The author argues that the food production campaigns in both cases were part of the transition to productivist farming in the 20th century.
