Balancing infrastructural constraints and learning goals during the redesign of games

Aktivität: Vortrag oder PräsentationPosterpräsentationScience-to-science

Beschreibung

Despite the potential benefits of game-based learning, infrastructural constraints
often prevent educators from introducing it in classrooms. We were interested in understanding
how student teachers balance learning objectives and infrastructural constraints when
redesigning games for secondary mathematics. Preliminary findings suggest that student
teachers might sometimes lead their redesign efforts with those constraints, rather than with
learning goals. This has implications for how teacher training programs can empower and
support student teachers’ capacity for instructional innovation.
